Description

This is a photo of a female "Large Yellow-banded Scolid Wasp" on the flower of the wild Artichoke. These insects are large and conspicuous; females : 40mm, males : 30mm. They are fairly common on the Maltese Islands. They parasite larvae of the Rhinoceros Beetle.
